Church Hall

St Paul’s Church Hall is situated beside St Paul’s Church.

The Church Hall was built in 1905 and still retains some of the style but not decor of a traditional church hall with a stage (now a room) and wooden floor but covered now.. Some refurbishment was begun early 2012 with improved toilets, decorating, partition to make back entrance area and office space.  Since Easter 2012 the Hall has been hired by the Zig Zag Nursery, who are in partnership with St Paul's. In January 2016 they obtained an Outstanding Ofsted. The entrance is from Bourges Boulevard side. Currently theyare open for up to 100 pre school childrenr and are open Mon to Fri 7am to 6pm.  The Triangle side of the Hall has also been made into a 'garden' space that the children can use for playing in which has fencing 6ft high all around the Hall apart from the area immediately in front of the entrance on Lincoln Rd. In 2013 a baby room was made by tranforming the porch area into a sleep area and by partioning off the back side quarter of the main hall; In Sept 2014 another room has been made on the stage area and this is now extra room space for small groups of children. InNov 2016) the main Hall interior walls were re-painted and new chairs, etc put in and in January/February 2023 extensive decorating and refurbishment was carried out.. Several years ago all the windows on south and north sides were replaced with ones with double glazing. In January 2023 the 2 windows at the front of the Hall were also finally replaced with double glazed windows.  We have also put in outside LED lights that come on automatically as soon as it is dusk which is a great safety feature. The ktichen area continues to be improved and a range cooker is in there, which the church can also use, when it is not needed by the Nursery who make meals Mon to Fri for the children.

The Hall is not now available for hire

The Church mainly use it for the toilet facilities & the kitchen facilities.

It does still require some updating and as and when there is finance the church PCC remain committed to continue  improving the Hall. Work still to be done includes updating the heating; some new electrical work, more roof insulation, external decoration and mending of gutters and tiles.

In Nov 2015 the kitchen windows were replaced with double glazed ones and in Dec all the windows on the siide nearest to the church were replaced and look very good, improving the temperature of the Hall !  InFebruary the kitchen units, etc were replaced with new units and the old, damp cupboards taken out to update the kitchen. Tilies were also put down and tiling done on the walls in specific areas.  In April the 3rd phase began to replace the north side windows in the Hall by double glazed ones, with 4th phase of the officewindows and front windows still to come when there is finance. We have not dared look at the huge window at the back yet!    Also in April new electrical sockets & a heater will be put in the kitchen.

In the intervening years there have been many changes to improve the building and it's facilities and decoration.  The kitchen is new; toilets are new with hand basins also inside the 2 adult toilets; there are 3 children's toilets with basins.

In December 2023 the 2 front windows facing Lincoln Rd have now been replaced with double glazed windows in the same style as the old ones.   The moss on the north side of the Hall was taken off in Feb 2023 by Lee, the church gardener, using his water jet spray.

The bins are now all re-located into the paddock car park.

More security lighting is around the whole building.
